5 Months Old

Mason is 5 months old now! He is still so much fun, and is getting so big. Here are some pictures of him at 5 months  (5 1/2 months to be exact).

Such a sweet baby!
Love Him! He needs to stop growing.
He is such a goof! Adam found him asleep in the back of the car one day like this.

Fun Facts at 5 Months
  • He weighs about 17lbs
  • Loves to stand up
  • Will belly laugh for his daddy, but hardly ever for mommy (this makes me sad ).
  • Loves going places. If we are in the house all day he gets fussy.
  • Loves being outside. We'll sometimes sit on the front porch and just watch cars drive by. He loves it.
  • Likes going jogging with mommy in his jogging stroller.
  • Can roll from tummy to back, and getting close from back to tummy.
  • Likes sitting in his bumbo
  • Is starting to like rice cereal a little more.
  • Laughs if he gets startled
  •  Always smiles. He is such a happy baby. We sometimes have to take him out of sacrament meeting at church because he is squealing and talking so loud. I guess that's better than him crying.
  • Likes to be put to sleep sitting up now.
  • Blows raspberries

For Sale!

So last week we put our cute little town house up for sale! It was a hard decision, but decided it was the best thing for our family at this time. We need some more space, and want to get into a single family home now while prices and interest rates low. It is close to WSU, shopping, restaurants and tons of other things. We have really loved the convenient location and will hate when we have to drive more than a couple minutes to go anywhere. Let us know what you think, or if you know of anybody that might be interested! It is single standing and not located in a community of town homes. Built in 2007, 1200 sq ft, 2 bed (both large), 2 baths, two tone paint, large kitchen, side yard with trees, no HOA fees. Asking $120,900. Very clean, and ready to move into.

Our Little Jumping Bean

We decided that Mason needed a new toy. He already has a ton of toys, but I guess that is just one of the perks of being the first baby. I wanted to get him something that didn't require he lay on his back. I felt like he was always on his back, which made me worried that he would get a flat head and end up having to wear one of those helmets... I am a little paranoid about this. Anyways, I decided to look for a "Johnny Jump-Up" for him. I actually wanted to buy him one of those exersaucer things, but we are running out of space in our little townhouse and I figured this would be much easier to store. He loves standing, and is such a stiff baby I thought this would be perfect. So, I went to Babies-R-Us and they wanted 50+ dollars for one!  I was not planning on paying this much, and hate the feeling of being ripped off. I thought that there must be a cheaper one without all the bells and whistles of the ones at Babies-R- Us. I continued to look and ended up finding one for 20 bucks at Target! Score! We hooked it up, put the babe in, and let him go to town! He was a little unsure  at first and just sucked on his hand. He still hasn't got the whole jumping thing down, but loves being able to stand. He also loves when we swing him back and forth in it.

Not sure what to think about this new contraption.
Starting to warm up to the idea after getting a little help bouncing from Mom and Dad.
Loving swinging back and forth with Daddy.
Everything is much more fun when your fist is in your mouth.

I forgot about this last picture, but wanted to post it. Mason sweats all the time. He sweats when he eats, sleeps and plays. After waking up from his nap one morning on our bed, I picked him up and found this huge sweat spot. I thought it was so funny and had to take a picture.

Time to Catch Up!

Wow how time does fly! I can't believe it has already been over a month since my last post. We have been doing great and have just been up to the same old stuff. Nothing too exciting to report which is usually a good thing. No news is good news right? Well here are some pictures of our "exciting" life the past month or so. Enjoy!

VALENTINES DAY
I know this was awhile ago, but for documenting purposes I will post about it!
For valentines this year, I was lucky enough to have two super cute boys as my valentines. We had a pretty low key valentines this year and just hung out at home. We ordered take-out from Olive Garden, which is always delicious and then just took it easy. Adam got me some flowers, Utah mint truffles (if you have never tried these they are delicious), and a TJ Maxx gift card. I got him a sweater, shirt, and a Cafe Rio giftcard.
Here are some of my valentine gifts, and the delicious chocolate cake I made

Happy Valentines from this little cheeser!

ST GEORGE
We ventured down to St George sometime in February to visit our friends Chad, Vanessa, and Chloe. I only took one picture; of Mason of course. The weather wasn't too great while we were down there; it was raining. We went to Vegas one of the days to go shopping, eat, and get out of the weather. It was nicer down there, but can be difficult with two children in tow. Overall it was a fun weekend. Thanks Chad and Vanessa for letting us come visit!
The one and only picture of our trip.

PLAYDATES
Every few weeks, my friends and I usually get together for a playdate. Well that is what we call it, mostly it is for us to catch up and chat while the babies sleep. On this day they were actually all awake. I think its good for Mason to have interaction with other babies his age/size. I always look forward to these fun days!
Mason and Kourtney hanging out on the floor. They are about 8 weeks apart!

UPDATE ON THE LITTLE GUY
Mason is growing like a weed, and is at such a fun stage right now! He just had his 4 month appointment a few weeks ago and is right on track with everything. He had to get shots which is never fun, and was pretty grumpy the next few days. We were glad when he was back to his old self. Here are his stats for 4 months, and some fun stuff he has been up to.
Height: 24.75 inches (44%)
Weight: 15lb 8oz (62%)
Head: 17 inches (74%)

Our little chubbers who still loves being naked
Yeah for tummy time! He does not love tummy time, but we try to do it at least once a day for a few minutes.
More tummy time
First time trying rice cereal. Now from this picture it looks like he is loving it but......
He hated it and would shutter everytime we gave him a bite. I think it is the texture thing he is going to have to get used to. We are going to hold off for another month or so and then try again.
He loves his toys.
Especially his lion friend on his play yard.
Still a champ sleeper clocking about 10 hours every night with about 2-3 naps a day.
So precious when sleeping
Finally rolled over from tummy to back! He gets this excited look on his face when he is finally on his back.
Getting ready to go!
Half-way there
Yeah he did it!
Well there you have it! Our exciting life in a nutshell. Kind of a long post, but i'm pretty caught up so that makes me extremely happy!

Blessing Day!

So I almost forgot to post about Mason's blessing. What a terrible mother i am, but I guess better late than never! Mason James Dahl was blessed on January 2, 2011 by his daddy. It was such a special, beautiful day and Mason of course looked so cute in his little blessing outfit. Just like any mother, I was hoping he would do good and not cry during the blessing. He did perfect and did not make a peep. We had a lot of support from family, friends, and grandparents. After the blessing we went over to my parents house for some lunch. We had a variety of soups, salad, bread, and desserts. Here are some pictures of the day! Of course I am terrible with pictures, so sorry if you were there and I did not get a picture of you.

3 Months Old!

So this little guy here is already 3 months old! I can hardly believe it, he is getting so big. He is so fun and is developing quite the personality. He brings so much happiness into our family and it's hard to remember what life was like without him. I'm going to post a few fun things about him, mostly just so ill remember.
  • He has been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months old!
  • He loves taking baths.
  •  When being held he has to be facing forward otherwise he gets pretty mad.
  • He loves being naked. Lets just hope this dosen't continue as he gets older.
  • He likes whistling. When he is fussy, Adam will sometimes just start whistling and it calms him down.. wierd I know.
  • He is not a cuddly baby at all.
  • Does not like being held all the time. He would rather lay on the ground and kick.
  • Loves to hear himself squeal and talk.
  • Loves looking at his mobile
  • He always falls asleep in his carseat
  • Had is first haircut at 2 months old
Here are Mason's stats at his 2 month appointment
Height: 23 inches (43%)
Weight: 12.6 lbs (58%)
Head: 16 inches (59%)

We have 3 month pictures scheduled to be taken tomorrow, so stay tuned for those in a few days!

Cafe Rio Chicken Tortilla Soup!

So I don't know about you, but we love ourselves some Cafe Rio around this house! We go there to eat quite often, and love most everything on the menu. One of my favorite things to get is the Chicken Tortilla Soup. When I was thinking what to make for dinner tonight I thought of this soup. I decided to see if there was a recipe online and came across one, but decided to change it up a bit and put my own spin on it. It turned out great  if I do say so myself and was quick and easy to put together. The hubby also enjoyed it very much which is always wonderful considering he usually dosen't think of soup as a complete meal.  So here is the recipe... mostly just so i'll remember it cause I am terrible about writing down recipes. Try it out and see what you think!

Cafe Rio Chicken Tortilla Soup

1lb chicken cooked and shredded ( I marinated mine with lime juice, cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper)
2T olive oil
1 large onion diced
6 cloves of garlic minced/pressed
3/4 cups minced carrots
5 cans chicken broth
1 small can diced green chilies
1 can Rotel ( Diced tomatoes w/ green chilies... I used Walmarts Great Value fire roasted brand)
1 can black beans
1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 3-4 limes)
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
1 tsp  chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste

In large soup pot saute onion, garlic and carrots in olive oil until tender. Add chicken broth, rotel and green chilies. Bring to a slight boil, and then reduce heat to low. Add the shredded chicken, black beans, seasonings, cilantro and lime juice. Let simmer for 30 minutes to let flavors blend. Garnish with guacamole, sour cream, tortilla chips and cheese.  Enjoy!

Silly Spit-Up

I have decided that Mason is the cutest most funny baby ever (don't worry I'm not at all biased). So today he was taking a nap next to me and after he had been asleep for a little while, I decided that I wanted to take a little snooze too. I had started to doze off and of course he decided that it was time to wake up. He was being really happy and just kicking next to me so I just layed there with my eyes still closed for for a few more minutes. After about 15 minutes I decided that I better get up and play with my neglected child. When I looked at him this is what I saw...
He had spit-up all over; which is not unusual for him. He usually cries when he spits up, but not this time. He was laying there happy as can be. I couldn't help but laugh. He just looked up at me smiling, probably thinking I was crazy or something. Isn't he so sweet? Even with a bunch of spit-up all over him. Who knows, I might just let him spit-up on himself more often if it makes him this happy! Oh the joys of being a mother!

2010 in Review

So to start off my first post i'm going to do a little review of the exciting and memorable things we did in 2010. Here it goes...

Adam's sister Julie got married in February. They had a nice dinner/ceremony at the Prarie Schonner in Ogden. Everything was so pretty, and Julie looked amazing. I wish I had more pictures of her wedding. I guess that can be another resolution of mine...take more pictures/not forget my camara.

Adam and I all gussied up at the wedding!

We were also able to attend a couple Jazz games! We were able to sit in the lower bowl for one of the games compliments of Adam's employer LSI. The other game we were in the upper bowl, but we still had a good time with all the crazy drunk fans that were by us!
Look how close we were to the court!
Fun time in the upper bowl!

In 2010 we were also able to go on a couple fun trips! Both our employers took us on such fun trips, so we really lucked out. We were able to go to San Francisco with the people I work with. It was so much fun, and we were able to do some fun things like...
Go see Wicked on Broadway!

 Tour Alcatraz!
 On the ferry to Alcatraz
 One of the jail cells
Alcatraz

Adam's employer took us on a week long cruise to Mexico! It was really relaxing, and we at tons of good food. Good thing I was pregnant, so I had a good excuse to pig out.
Us on formal night in the dining room
Taking a ferry out to an island, where we snorkled and kayaked
Adam boogie boarding
At a hotel we snuck into to swim, and lay on the beach.
Us on the beach with our cruise ship behind us.

The Harris family reunion is always a must. Every July it is held and is always a good time. One activity that always gives everyone a good laugh is when we limbo. I had my baby bump starting to show, so I opted out this year. Adam and my Mom weren't going to let the young flexible kids show them up though....
My mom is actually pretty good at the limbo
Adam did pretty good too

We were able to go up to Bear Lake with my family for a few days and enjoy boating and relaxing. We also went up to the our friend's the Cooks cabin in the Fall. I am terrible at taking pictures as mentioned before, so I only got a few. We also went to Lava Hot Springs with Adams's mom, and camping with Adam's Dad. Of course I forgot my camara and neither of those trips have pictures documenting them.
Adam wakeboarding on beautiful Bear Lake
What a cute couple.. I just sat in the boat and worked on my tan while everyone else skied and wakeboarded. I guess that was one of the downfalls to being prego.

This is Adam after four wheeling up at the Cook's cabin with some of his buddies.

One of the most exciting things that happened to us in 2010 was the birth of our sweet baby boy. We found out on March 1, 2010 that I was pregnant and were so excited. I overall had a wonderful pregnancy. I never got sick and was able to work unitl a week before I delivered.
Me at 22 weeks. (sorry I don't know why the picture didn't flip)
36 weeks pregnant
My water broke a 3am on October 27. We headed to the hospital where I was in labor for 18 hours and ended up pushing for 2.5 hours. It was such an incredible experience, although I am glad its over.
Mason James Dahl arrived at 8:27pm weighing 6lbs 9oz and 19.5in.
 Getting all cleaned up!
A little swollen, but so cute!
First family picture. Don't mind me, I was exhausted if you can't tell.
First bath! He had the biggest cone head because he was born posterior. He also had a sore on top of his head from being in the birth canal for quite awhile.
Getting ready to go home!
 3 days old
Mason has quite the hairstyle going on. We like to call it the Birds Nest cause he has tons of hair in the back and on the sides, but none on top. Hopefully he gets some on the top soon to even out things.
He loves his Daddy
Sleeping in his car seat on his first trip to Christmas Village in Ogden
This picture makes me laugh. He always holds his hand like this when he sleeps.
First Christmas as a family.!

We had a wonderful 2010 and feel so blessed to have had a healthy baby boy. So far 2011 has not disappointed, so lets hope it continues that way!
